Fire Permit Application

NOTE: this is an application for a Fire Permit ONLY. You will receive an email advising if your permit has been approved or denied. If your permit has been approved, you will receive an electronic copy of the actual Fire Permit, which you must print out and have available to present to enforcement agencies upon request. Do not burn until you have received the electronic Fire Permit. Burning stubble/un-harvested crops require additional information, oversight and insurance as per Policy 2(A)

Regulations:

It is the responsibility of the applicant to:

  1. Be familiar with and abide by the requirements of the Forest and Prairie Protection Act (SUPRA), the regulations thereunder, Bylaw No. 4-2013. and Policy 2(A) (click to open Bylaw, requires Adobe PDF Reader)
  2. Obtain permission, if necessary to burn on any land.

Legal Land Description

Enter your legal land description. Submit separate permit applications for each quarter you wish to burn on. If you are unsure about your legal description, please enter N/A into the fields below.

Burning shall be done in compliance with the Forest and Prairie Protection Act (SUPRA), the regulations made thereunder and the following conditions:

  1. Permitee is responsible for the safe control of the burning herein authorized;
  2. Winds less than 10 km per hour;
  3. A minimum of one(1) adult must be in attendance at all times;
  4. Sufficient tools, equipment, and quantities of water must be readily available for the size of burn being conducted;
  5. If burning is within 1/2 kilometre of a primary or secondary highway the Permittee is responsible to post appropriate "Smoke" signs along the primary or secondary highway; 
  6. Permitee must remove and return to the appropriate agency/person the smoke signs when burn is completed or permit expires.
  7. Consideration must be given to neighbours as to avoid physical discomfort as a result of burning.
  8. This Permit does not authorize burning of prohibited debris as defined by the Alberta Environmental Protection Enhancement Act.
  9. You must call the toll-free fire line at 1-866-663-3730 before you burn. Leave a message with your name, permit number, the date you intend to burn, and a number you can be reached in an emergency.

The Permittee agrees to indemnify and save harmless Beaver Emergency Services Commission from all liability arising out of the operations authorized by this fire permit. This permit may be cancelled at any time.

The Permittee agrees to pay the cost of fighting all fires caused by willful violation of any condition set out in the fire permit.

I have read and accept the list of debris that are prohibited from being burned, and have read and accept the conditions above and regulations in Bylaw No. 4-2013, and conditions in Policy 2(A) accepting full responsibility.
