Beaver Emergency Services Commission (BESC) Administrative Assistant
 
Beaver Emergency Services Commission (BESC) provides fire protection and emergency management services for the Beaver County Region. BESC operates 6 fire stations. The stations are located within each of the municipalities within the Beaver County Region. The BESC Administration office is located in Viking.
 
Position Summary
This position is primarily for providing administrative support to the BESC Regional Manager and the administration team. This position may also provide support to the district fire stations.
 
Hours of work: 3 days a week Monday, Thursday Friday 7 hours a day
 
Term of Employment: 6-month term which may be renewed
 
Pay Scale: To be negotiated
 
Salary: $15.51-$28.11 per hour
 
Administrative Duties:
· Reception duties – answer phones, manages in-coming and out-going mail, issue fire permits
· Edits, formats, and proofreads documents and presentations.
· Administrative filing, records management, and general office duties.
· Create forms, templates, data bases in Microsoft Word and Excel and Access
· Enter data pertaining to inventory, training records, asset management and incident statistics
· Order office supplies
· Other duties as directed by the Regional Manager.
 
Working Conditions:
· Duties are typically carried out at the BESC office during regular working hours
· Some required duties, such as minute taking will be carried out after regular working hours.
 
Education:
· Administrative Assistant Certificate or equivalent education.
 
Required Skills:
· Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook PowerPoint)
· Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
· Ability to multitask and effectively deal with change
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Attention to detail
 
Minimum Experience:
· Minimum of 1 year in a similar role.
